The Silsila
Our Story
Every piece that leaves our workshop carries more than wood and finish. It carries a silsila — an unbroken chain of skill that began long before this workshop opened its doors in 2001.
Building furniture in Chiniot since 2001.

The Silsila
Our ancestors worked wood in Chiniot for decades before us, learning the same practical lessons of grain direction, joint strength and patient finishing that we still use today. When the present workshop was established in 2001, it was not the start of the story. It was simply the next link in a chain that was already strong.
In our family the work is taught by doing. Fathers and uncles show younger hands how to read a plank, how to cut a joint that will stay tight through years of daily use, and how to finish a surface so it protects the timber without hiding its natural character. The same methods that were passed down to us are the ones we use on every bed frame, sofa frame and dining table that leaves this floor.
We do not claim secret techniques that no one else in Chiniot knows. What we do claim is continuity and accountability. The person shaping your piece today learned from the person who shaped the last one, who learned from the generation before that. That is the practical meaning of silsila in a furniture workshop: skill that is lived, practised daily, and still controlled by the same family.
This is also why we stay in Chiniot. The town’s reputation for wooden furniture and solid wood construction did not appear overnight. It was built by families who stayed, who trained the next generation of Chiniot furniture makers, and who kept making pieces that lasted in real Pakistani homes. We are one of those families.

Workshop-direct pricing
Because we are the makers, the price you receive is the workshop price.
There is no showroom between us and you. There is no retailer taking a cut. When we quote a starting price for a wooden bed set, a sofa set or a dining table, that figure reflects the solid wood, the labour and the time it will actually take us to build it. If you later decide you want a different size, a different hardwood such as sheesham, or an extra detail, we adjust the quote accordingly and you still deal with the same people who will do the work.
Timeline
- Earlier generationsOur ancestors worked wood in Chiniot for decades, building the practical knowledge of timber selection, joinery and finishing that still guides us.
- 2001The present workshop is established. The family begins building under the name that would become Chinioti Furniture by Alvi’s.
- TodayThe same family continues the work: selecting solid wood, cutting joints, shaping details and finishing every piece that leaves the floor. We still answer customer messages ourselves and still stand behind every order.
We did not invent the craft of Chiniot. We inherited it, practised it daily, and kept it alive in our own workshop. If you would like to know more about a specific design, a wood option such as sheesham, or how a piece can be adjusted for your home, message us on WhatsApp.
We are the same people who will make the furniture, so the conversation stays direct and the answers stay accurate.
